APPA Awards 2024: Meet the Judges

What do three APPA Life Members and an advertising industry Guru have in common, aside from a passion for the Promotional Products Industry?

They have all graciously agreed to join the judging panel for the 2024 APPA Awards!

It is our pleasure to introduce the members of the 2024 judging panel.

Andrew Bloom, APPA Life Member

Andrew established ASB Marketing in Perth in 1992 and recently sold the business in 2020. ASB Marketing have been APPA members for over 25 years and have been accredited with ten APPA Awards. Andrew is an APPA Life Member and served on the APPA Board for five years of which three of these were as President.

Howard Jones, Sands Promotions, APPA Life Member

Howard’s introduction to promotional products was via the souvenir route in the late 1970’s, where the company he worked for at the time had souvenir, gift and toy divisions. It was from these product ranges that he realised that rather than taking a product and applying a location print, you could apply a company logo and message and create an advertising medium that had gift appeal. A move to John Sands’ Specialty Advertising in the early 1980’s consolidated Howard’s passion for branded merchandise and in 1986 he became a founding director of Sands Promotions. Howard was a founding director of the Australasian Promotional Products Association and past President. Since 1999, his company has won multiple awards for the creation and delivery of effective campaigns using the medium of promotional products.

Maree Lawless, The Works Printing Group, APPA Life Member

Maree was awarded APPA Life Membership in 2022, having operated The Works Printing Group in Hobart since the early '90s. Maree has made an outstanding contribution to the promotional products industry, serving on the APPA Board for five years between 2013 to 2017 and playing a significant role as Treasurer. Maree has a long-held passion for the environment and ethical sourcing.

Simon Tebbutt, Lock Stock Marketing

Simon is the founder of Lock Stock Marketing, providing both a full creative capability along with a specialist retail consultancy that serves to bring brands and retailers together. Simon has an expansive and experienced marketing background - from client to agency, United Kingdom to Australia, retail to financial services and FMCG, to now leading the Shopper Marketing discipline. A move to Australia in 2004 saw Simon tackle all marketing disciplines – advertising, digital, in-store and catalogue – at Publicis Mojo, BMF and finally at M&C Saatchi where he managed the Woolworths account.
